    ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

    The specialisation in IT Management is oriented towards providing education to IT managers in the tourism, catering, commerce, banking and the public sector and other economic sectors. Through its diversified curriculum, it offers insights into basic economic knowledges in close interrelation with the knowledges about the principles of sustainable economic development.
    Modern companies base their effectiveness on information and communication technologies and human resources educated to utilize the full potential of these technologies. The very competitiveness of modern companies relies on their ability to use internal and external business data as best as possible. This means that these data are translated, through well-designed information systems, into the basis for decision-making and management of modern companies. Many companies achieve strategic market advantages with the help of their information and communication technologies as well as highly educated professionals who operate these technologies and who are able to combine their knowledge in business economics with the knowledge in information and communication technologies. Experience so far has shown that the best business results are achieved through an integration of competences, knowledges and skills in business economics and competences, knowledges and skills in information and communication technologies.

    PROGRAMME DURATION

    The undergraduate university study programme in Business Economics with specialisation in IT Management lasts three years or six semesters (180 ECTS credits).

    Upon the completion of this undergraduate programme, students are awarded the academic degree of a Bachelor (Baccalaureus) in Business Economics (univ. bacc. oec.).

    After graduating from the undergraduate programme, students have the possibility to continue their studies at the graduate programme.

    STUDY PROGRAMMES IN ENGLISH

    The Department of Economics and Business Economics also offers almost all of its courses in the English language.
    The University of Palermo, Italy, and the Department of Economics and Business Economics of the University of Dubrovnik carry out joint Double Degree university graduate programmes in Economics and in Business Economics – Marketing and Tourism – that are taught in the English language. These are the first such programmes in Croatia, which enable students to earn a degree from both the University of Dubrovnik and from the University of Palermo.

    WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

    The Department of Economics and Business Economics fosters an individual approach to students, taking into account their needs and aspirations. This Department has you and your future in focus and you can be sure that the enrolment at a study programme with the Department of Economics and Business Economics is the right choice for you. Classes at our programme are taught by our professors, by visiting professors as well as by renowned experts from practice who know how to recognise talents, understand professional goals of students and help them realize these goals. Our computer labs are equipped with a state-of-the-art technology. Studying at this Department comes with an additional benefit, i.e. the participation in the ERASMUS mobility programme. This programme enables students to study during one semester or during the whole year at a partner university abroad. Our cooperation with various enterprises, Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the City of Dubrovnik ensures students the opportunity for gaining practical knowledges and for doing their professional practice.
