    ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

    It is quite evident that the healthcare system needs educated nurses and paramedics who, besides a basic knowledge and skills in general nursing care, have special knowledge in particular types of nursing care, such as Clinical Nursing.

    Bearing in mind that nurses and paramedics are the basic elements of the nursing care provision system, their higher education and continuous learning are the pillars of the nursing profession’s successful progress, with the main goal being to ensure the best possible care to patients with the help of state-of-the-art technology and modern medical achievements.

    The general goals of this programme are to:
    • Expand theoretical knowledge in Clinical Nursing
    • Apply gained skills in everyday work with patients
    • Organise and manage organisational units in public and private healthcare facilities
    • Apply gained theoretical knowledge in work with patients
    • Gain detailed knowledge in regulations, sector norms and standards of nursing
    • Gain knowledge in basic legislation relating to nursing
    • Improve the skills of communication with patients and their families

    The specific goals of this programme are to:
    • Gain knowledge in the specialised clinical branches of nursing
    • Develop a wide range of specialised and applicable skills including the knowledge of working in hospital wards, ER, intensive and semi-intensive care units and in treating oncological patients, patients in terminal disease stages and palliative care, in supporting patients who are in family care as well in working with disabled persons and with children who have developmental difficulties
    • Gain operational knowledge in a wide range of nursing topics
    • Plan and define organisational, professional, staffing and financial requirements
    • Develop the skills of the leadership of groups, working teams and other soft skills
    • Be trained to control and supervise various aspects of the working activities in nursing

  • PROGRAMME DURATION

    PROGRAMME DURATION

    The specialist graduate study programme in Clinical Nursing lasts two years or four semesters (120 ECTS credits).

    DEGREE AWARDED

    Upon the completion of the specialist graduate programme, students are awarded the academic degree of a Graduate Nurse / Paramedic (dipl. med. techn.).

  • AFTER GRADUATION

    AFTER GRADUATION

    After the completion of this programme, Graduate Nurses and Paramedics will be able to implement gained knowledge and skills in their nursing work and in controlling and supervising various working activities in nursing.
    Based on their clinical knowledge in nursing and their education in different areas of nursing care and in various clinical medicine fields, they will be able to provide integral nursing care as well as special nursing care as may be required. Also, they will be able to do research in nursing and participate in the education of nurses.
