    ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

    The primary reason for offering this study programme is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in finance, accounting and tax, which are directly applicable and necessary in everyday business.

    The specialist study programme in Financial Management rests on modern insights about the financial management of firms. The curriculum has been designed to enable a practical education of attendees and facilitate their gaining of skills and techniques so that they can join the modern business as easily as possible.

    Both teachers from higher education institutions and experts from the economic practice teach classes at this programme. Special attention is paid to compulsory professional practice, which the attendees can do in various firms and institutions. The classes are organised at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, Lapadska obala 7, 20,000 Dubrovnik.
    The main aim of offering this professional study programme is to follow the needs of the economy and society and to design such curriculum that will meet the detected needs of the market and ensure a permanent transfer of knowledge and skills through a direct link with the economy, facilitating thereby the lifelong learning process.

    The specialist graduate study programme in Financial Management lasts two years or four semesters (120 ECTS credits).

    Upon the completion of the specialist graduate programme, students are awarded the academic degree of a Professional Specialist in Financial Management (struč. spec. oec.).

    The undergraduate professional study programme in Financial Management has been designed based on the needs of the labour market in Dubrovnik-Neretva County and in collaboration with its administration bodies and services. After they graduate from this programme, attendees will gain a basic knowledge in economics, enterprise finance and financial institutions functioning. Upon their graduation from the three-year professional study programme, students will be able to work in expert jobs in companies and institutions from the area of commerce, tourism, banking, finance, traffic, public sector and administration.
    Upon the graduation from the specialist graduate programme in Financial Management, students gain additional knowledge in finance and accounting. They will be able to use modern analytical techniques and to gain new skills that will provide a solid foundation for financial decision-making, which will increase their individual efficiency in the area of finance.
    Students who graduate from this programme will be able to perform highly-skilled work and tasks in accounting, finance and taxes, including managerial activities at the level of middle and/or top management in both private firms and public institutions.
    They will also have a wide range of self-employment options where they can realise their own entrepreneurial ideas and projects.

Classes at our programme are taught by our professors, by visiting professors as well as by renowned experts from practice who know how to recognise talents, understand professional goals of students and help them realize these goals. Our computer labs are equipped with a state-of-the-art technology. Studying at this Department comes with an additional benefit, i.e. the participation in the ERASMUS mobility programme. This programme enables students to study during one semester or during the whole year at a partner university abroad. Our cooperation with various enterprises, Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the City of Dubrovnik ensures students the opportunity for gaining practical knowledges and for doing their professional practice.
