PROGRAMME DURATION

The specialist graduate study programme in Hotel Industry lasts two years or four semesters (120 ECTS credits).

DEGREE AWARDED

Upon the completion of the specialist graduate programme, students are awarded the academic degree of a Professional Specialist in Hotel Industry (struč. spec. oec.).

Tourism is a modern, mass and polyfunctional phenomenon that has a very significant and direct impact to the social and economic development of tourist receiving countries such as the Republic of Croatia. Tourism is of utmost priority for the City of Dubrovnik when it comes to its economic development. Dubrovnik is one of the most important European tourist destinations and needs high-quality professionals who have a top education and have the skills and knowledge needed for hotel industry. The market has recognised the importance of this specialist graduate programme, and several agreements that have been signed with the hotels of Dubrovnik-Neretva county are an evidence of that fact. By attending this programme, students will gain practical specialist knowledges about hotel industry. They will gain skills that they can use in the most complex situations in the modern tourist market such as: the use of modern information and communication technologies in hotel business, analysis and monitoring of modern hotel industry trends, optimising hotel business processes with a simultaneous adjustment to modern trends and changes in the environment, and defining an adequate strategy for a long-term business sustainability. The specialist graduate programme in Hotel Industry resulted from the need of the students who have graduated from the undergraduate professional study programme in Hotel Industry, Restaurant Industry and Gastronomy to receive a further education in this field. Also, the current employees in hotel companies have been showing a similar need for this education.
