Biography/CV:
Marko Roško is a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Media and Public Relations of the University of Dubrovnik and a PhD candidate in the postgraduate doctoral study Media and Communication at the University North. He completed his Master’s degree in Public Relations with a grade point average of 5.0 and received the Rector’s Award for outstanding achievement.
In his scientific and teaching work, he focuses on several related areas: disinformation, fact-checking, online media, media and information literacy, cyber security, and the impact of generative artificial intelligence on journalism and democratic processes. He is particularly interested in the ways in which manipulative content – from “fake news” to deepfakes – affects citizens’ trust in institutions, the media and elections, as well as in tools for their detection (OSINT, content verification, analytical tools of digital platforms).
Before his assistantship, he was the editor-in-chief and principal fact-checker of DU-CHECK, the Centre for Fact-Checking and Civic Resilience, where he took part in designing fact-checking methodology, mentoring students and preparing public educational activities. In this context, he completed specialised training in fact-checking and OSINT and gave lectures, workshops and public talks on disinformation and media literacy.
He has published articles on cyber threats and “fake news”, the role of the media in wars and crises, and the new communication challenges brought by artificial intelligence.
