Životopis:
Prof. dr. sc. Pero Maldini je politolog i redoviti profesor u trajnom izboru. Uz Sveučilište u Dubrovniku, koje mu je matična institucija, djeluje na još dvjema visokoškolskim institucijama u Hrvatskoj i na jednoj u SAD.
Rođen je u Dubrovniku. Diplomirao je, magistrirao i doktorirao na Fakultetu političkih znanosti Sveučilišta u Zagrebu (područje društvenih znanosti, polje politologija, grana komparativna politika). Više godina djelovao je u prosvjeti kao ravnatelj, a potom kao direktor u dubrovačkim medijima (županijski tjednik i gradski radio). Na Sveučilište u Dubrovniku dolazi odmah po njegovu osnivanju kao autor nastavnog programa i pokretač novog studija u području javnog komuniciranja, masovnih medija i odnosa s javnošću. Autor je i voditelj više programa stručnog usavršavanja sveučilišnih nastavnika, unapređenja nastavne metodologije i implementacije bolonjskog procesa. U više mandata bio je pročelnik Odjela za komunikologiju Sveučilišta u Dubrovniku te voditelj interdisciplinarnog poslijediplomskog doktorskog studija Komunikologija na Sveučilištu Josipa Jurja Strossmayera u Osijeku. Predstojnik je Katedre za interdisciplinarne znanosti na Veleučilištu Edward Bernays u Zagrebu.
Objavio je četiri knjige te četrdeset znanstvenih radova u hrvatskim i inozemnim znanstvenim publikacijama u području komparativne politike, teorije demokracije, demokratske tranzicije postkomunističkih društava, političkog sustava, medija i politike te politike u uvjetima globalizacije i umreženog društva. Sa svojim izlaganjima sudjelovao je na trideset i pet međunarodnih i na pet domaćih znanstvenih skupova. Bio je (su)voditelj nekoliko međunarodnih znanstvenih i stručnih istraživačkih projekata. Pod njegovim mentorstvom izrađeno je i obranjeno 5 doktorskih disertacija te više od 30 diplomskih i završnih radova.
U više navrata bio je na znanstvenim usavršavanjima u inozemstvu (SAD, Nizozemska, Mađarska, Slovačka). Dugi niz godina kontinuirano surađuje s uglednim inozemnim akademskim institucijama kao gostujući profesor i suautor projekata znanstvene suradnje (SAD), odnosno recenzent studijskih programa (Slovenija). Recenzent je više uglednih znanstvenih časopisa, uključujući Politics (Sage), International Political Science Review (Sage) i Contemporary Politics (Taylor & Francis). Dugogodišnji je član Hrvatskog politološkog društva (u više mandata i član Izvršnog odbora), član American Political Science Association te član uredništava triju znanstvenih časopisa. Dugogodišnji je suradnik više inozemnih i domaćih političkih institucija i zaklada te aktivan sudionik niza programa u području političkog obrazovanja i razvoja demokracije. Politički je komentator više hrvatskih i inozemnih medija.

Biography/CV:
Professor Pero Maldini is a tenured full professor and political scientist. Based at the University of Dubrovnik, he is also engaged at two other universities in Croatia and one in the United States.
Born in Dubrovnik, Professor Maldini holds a M.A., M.Sc. and PhD in political science from the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Zagreb. He has a diverse background in education, having worked as a boarding school headmaster and later as the director of Dubrovnik media, conducting a county weekly and city radio station. After the founding of the University of Dubrovnik, he joined as both the author of the curriculum and the initiator of a new study program in communication, mass media, and public relations. Additionally, he has been the author and director of several professional development programs aimed at improving university teaching methodologies and supporting the implementation of the Bologna Process.
He has served multiple terms as head of the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Dubrovnik and the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Communication at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek. He currently chairs the Cathedra of Interdisciplinary Sciences at Edward Bernays College in Zagreb.
His academic contributions include four books and over forty peer-reviewed articles in Croatian and international journals. His research focuses on comparative politics, democratic theory, post-communist transitions, political systems, media and politics, and globalization. He has presented at thirty five international and five national conferences and has been (co-)leader of several international academic and professional research projects. Under his mentorship, 5 doctoral dissertations and over 30 graduate and bachelor theses have been successfully defended.
Professor Maldini has received several international research and education grants in the USA, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Slovakia. He has maintained long-standing collaborations with prominent foreign academic institutions, either as a visiting professor, co-author of collaborative research projects (USA), or as a reviewer and accreditor of study programs (Slovenia). He is a reviewer for top-tier journals such as Politics (Sage), International Political Science Review (Sage), and Contemporary Politics (Taylor & Francis).
An active member of the Croatian Political Science Association, he has served multiple terms on its Executive Board and is also a member of the American Political Science Association. He sits on editorial boards of three academic journals and actively participates in various political education and democracy development programs. As a political commentator, he contributes to both Croatian and international media outlets.
