    ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

    The programme is intended for all those who wish to be educated for jobs related to media and journalism as well as for various forms of communication, such as media relations, public, political and business communication.

    Modern information society requires that almost all economic entities and the state, political and civil organizations communicate their business, public, political and other interests to target audiences. The need for an education in this field is ever growing. Therefore, the curriculum of this programme is designed to meet the requirements of the profession, of the media and the public, as well as to offer to students a state-of-the-art education in the information and communication field.

    The curriculum of the study programme in Media and Social Culture is based on the on the latest media theory tenets and is oriented towards modern communication trends. Focus is put on information technologies use and foreign languages, especially English. Lectures are given by the best domestic and foreign experts and renowned professionals.

    Besides an education in theory, this programme also offers a hands-on professional education, including professional and creative work in media workshops and practical classes, which require a considerable personal engagement of students. Writing newspaper articles, making radio shows, recording and editing TV reports, planning of public relations campaigns are only some of the activities through which the students of the Media and Social Culture programme gain skills for their future professional work.

    PROGRAMME DURATION

    The undergraduate university study programme in Media and Social Culture lasts three years or six semesters (180 ECTS credits).

    Upon the completion of the university study programme in Media and Social Culture, students are awarded the academic degree of a Bachelor in Journalism and Public Relations (univ. bacc. nov. et. rel. publ.).

    After graduating from the undergraduate programme, students have the possibility to continue their studies by attending the graduate programmes of the Department of Communication Studies (graduate programme in Media and graduate programme in Public Relations) or similar graduate programmes offered by other higher education institutions.

    WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

    This programme offers various professional workshops as its integral part. This means that, besides their regular education in the compulsory courses on general and expert topics relating to scientific theory and disciplines, students have the opportunity to spend a considerable amount of time in workshops. There they are able to gain and practice the basic skills of their future profession so that they can be successful in it.

    Radio, TV and journalistic workshops are to be especially highlighted, which include University media (Undu radio, Unidu TV, Punkt magazine). Students of the undergraduate programme and students of both graduate programmes of the Department of Communication Studies take an active part in creating and editing their content.
