On August 25, at the University of Dubrovnik campus, a cooperation agreement was signed between the University of Dubrovnik and Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT). The agreement was signed by HRT’s Director-General Robert Šveb and the Rector of the University of Dubrovnik, Prof. Nebojša Stojčić, PhD.
This agreement establishes cooperation that opens new opportunities for University of Dubrovnik students to gain high-quality practical training, professional development, and hands-on experience in a real media environment. Croatian Radiotelevision, as the national public broadcaster with a tradition spanning nearly a century, has been recognized as a key partner in the education of future media professionals. On the other hand, through its Department of Communication and Public Relations, the University of Dubrovnik develops programmes closely connected with practice and the needs of the contemporary media market, and this agreement formalizes the cooperation that has already been present in practice for many years.
HRT’s Director-General Robert Šveb emphasized the importance of the established partnership and pointed out that HRT can offer students a unique experience of working within a media system that brings together television, radio, digital platforms, and a rich audiovisual archive.
“With a tradition soon approaching a century, HRT holds knowledge and expertise that can be invaluable for the professional development of students. Cooperation with the University provides a framework and creates space for new generations to develop into future media professionals. I believe this partnership will show that combining academia and media practice brings mutual value. I wish students to find in this cooperation an opportunity that will shape their professional careers in the future,” said Šveb, adding that the most successful students will also have the opportunity to pursue employment at HRT.
Rector of the University of Dubrovnik, Prof. Nebojša Stojčić, PhD, highlighted that the University continues to expand its network of teaching bases, and this agreement is particularly significant for the Department of Communication and Public Relations.
“I am pleased that this base is connected to our Department of Communication and Public Relations, where we have invested considerably in recent years to provide students with modern study conditions. HRT has been an important partner for our students from the very beginning, through internships and employment, and with today’s signing we are elevating that relationship to a new level,” emphasized Rector Stojčić.
Vice-Rector for International Relations, Public Relations and Student Standards, Prof. Mato Brautović, PhD, pointed out that the Department of Communication and Public Relations is the only institution in Croatia offering a university-level Master’s programme in Public Media, which makes this cooperation a natural and logical step.
“This is the way we can direct students towards a potential employer and give them the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working at the public service. Many of our students have already taken their first professional steps at HRT, and this agreement makes that process easier and more formalized,” concluded Vice-Rector Brautović.
Through the cooperation between Croatian Radiotelevision and the University of Dubrovnik, students will be offered new opportunities for practical training, knowledge and skills development, and a smoother transition from academia to the labour market.
