University of Dubrovnik in the global Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023

The University of Dubrovnik has been ranked for the first time in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, the only global ranking that assesses the performance of universities against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A record number of institutions, 1,591 from all around the world, participated in this year’s ranking. The ranking is based on data collected from universities in 17 categories corresponding to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. UNIDU has been ranked in 15 out of the 17 sustainable development goals and overall placed in the 1,001+ category.

UNIDU achieved its best results in Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), where it ranked in the 301-400 range out of 960 institutions assessed for this goal. It also performed well in Goal 14 (Life Below Water), occupying the 201-300 position out of 504 ranked institutions. In these categories, UNIDU was rated above the median for the relevance of its research to the achievement of UN sustainable development goals, contribution to the sustainability of water ecosystems, and care for employees.

“Sustainability is a topic ingrained in all strategic documents of the University of Dubrovnik. A significant number of our scientific and professional projects focus on this theme, and we continuously explore opportunities to apply sustainability principles in the university’s daily operations. Being included in THE Impact Rankings in the year when we celebrate our 20th anniversary is seen as recognition for the efforts we invest as part of our scientific and social mission to promote sustainable development within the community in which we operate and grow together,” said professor Nikša Burum, the Rector of the University of Dubrovnik.
