The Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Dubrovnik started the implementation of the project ‘Fostering the innovation capacities and skills for marine robotics deployment for monitoring and marine environment protection’ – MARROBO.
The MARROBO project will be implemented within the framework of the cross-border cooperation programme Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro in the period from 15 July 2024 to 14 July 2026. The project is co-financed by the ERDF and IPA III funds of the European Union.
The total value of the project is €635,083.62. The lead partner is the University of Zagreb Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, and the cooperating institutions are the University of Dubrovnik, the University of Montenegro and the Municipality of Neum.
The overall objective of MARROBO project is to enhance research and innovation capacities in cross border area for new innovative marine robotics deployment in monitoring and marine environment protection. Developing of innovative marine robotics for monitoring and measurement of microplastic and metals in seawater and seabed and noise pollution, and acquiring specific new skills and competences, accelerate innovation and uptake of advanced technologies for smart and competitive development.
The expected change from MARROBO project is enhanced and fostered smart investments in R&I of robotics for monitoring and protection of Adriatic Sea nature and biodiversity, the reduction of pollution and promotion of a blue economy.
