ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The study programme in Economics has been designed with the aim to offer to students a curriculum that will train them for work in various public institutions and in private companies, facilitating thereby the concept of the development of the Croatian economy. By attending this programme, students will get a specific education in new economic trends and a well-balanced mix of knowledge, skills and competences. They will have the opportunity to successfully master the methodologies of scientific and professional work, as well as the knowledge and skills needed to solve the most complex developmental and current topics.

In conceptualising this curriculum, we have been focused on the development of logical thinking skills along with an inter-disciplinary approach to solving open topics in this field. The curriculum thus includes theory, respective legislation, standards and best practices, all aligned with global guidelines and special requirements that are relevant for the Republic of Croatia. These requirements will be particularly emphasized in the elaboration and implementation of theoretical topics in the course of this programme.

PROGRAMME DURATION

The undergraduate university study programme in Economics lasts three years or six semesters (180 ECTS credits).

DEGREE AWARDED

Upon the completion of this undergraduate programme, students are awarded the academic degree of a Bachelor (Baccalaureus) in Economics (univ. bacc. oec.).

POSSIBILITY TO CONTINUE STUDIES

After graduating from the undergraduate programme, students have the possibility to continue their studies at the graduate programme.

STUDY PROGRAMMES IN ENGLISH

The Department of Economics and Business Economics also offers almost all of its courses in the English language.
The University of Palermo, Italy, and the Department of Economics and Business Economics of the University of Dubrovnik carry out joint Double Degree university graduate programmes in Economics and in Business Economics – Marketing and Tourism – that are taught in the English language. These are the first such programmes in Croatia, which enable students to earn a degree from both the University of Dubrovnik and from the University of Palermo.

Our computer labs are equipped with a state-of-the-art technology. Studying at this Department comes with an additional benefit, i.e. the participation in the ERASMUS mobility programme. This programme enables students to study during one semester or during the whole year at a partner university abroad. Our cooperation with various enterprises, Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the City of Dubrovnik ensures students the opportunity for gaining practical knowledges and for doing their professional practice.
