International Students of the University of Dubrovnik Take Part in ‘Cultural Awareness’ Workshop

The workshop ‘Cultural Awareness’ was held at the Campus of the University of Dubrovnik on 6 October. The workshop was dedicated to strengthening intercultural competences and fostering the successful integration of international students into the academic and social community.

The workshop was led by the Vice-Rector for Quality, Ethics and Strategic Development of the University of Dubrovnik, Professor Katija Vojvodić, PhD. She encouraged students to share their experiences of living abroad and adapting to a new environment, as well as to reflect on the importance of developing cultural intelligence, drawing on examples from everyday life.

Jelena Bupić, head of the Office for inclusivity and psychological support, led the workshop ‘Studying abroad, struggling within‘. Students learned more about difficulties such as depression, anxiety, identity conflict, loneliness, and academic pressure, as well as ways to recognize and cope with them. Particular emphasis was placed on the challenges students face in new environments. They were also encouraged to seek free psychological counseling at the University if they ever need support.

Through the ‘Cultural Awareness’ workshop, the University of Dubrovnik continues to build a supportive, open, and inclusive academic environment in which diversity is a value and mutual understanding is the foundation of successful education and personal development.
