Representatives of the University of Dubrovnik from the Department of Applied Ecology and from the Laboratory for Intelligent Autonomous Systems (LARIAT) last week participated in the partner meeting of the MARLESS project. The meeting was held during three days on the San Servolo island near Venice. During the meeting, partners presented their achievements with a special overview of the last project meeting which will be held next year in Dubrovnik.
The project MARine Litter cross-border awarenESS and innovation actions is carried out from 1 June 2020 to 31 December 2022 within the CBC Programme ‘2014-2020 Interreg V-A, Italy – Croatia’ and is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The project deals with marine litter in the Adriatic Sea from various aspects, including monitoring of the quantity of marine litter, raising citizen awareness about this problem, pilot activities aimed at testing experimental processes of removing of marine litter as well as cross-border management to reduce the quantity of marine litter in the Adriatic Sea.
