From 24 to 26 September, the University of Dubrovnik hosted a series of workshops dedicated to the production of video lessons, organized within the framework of the e-University project. The workshops were led by video production expert Dario Bajurin and were intended for teachers and other participants interested in enhancing their knowledge and skills in creating educational video content.
The first day featured the workshop “Pre-production – Planning and Preparation for Video Lessons”. Participants learned how to develop ideas and define learning objectives, design the structure and elements of a video lesson, and create simple scripts and storyboards. Special emphasis was placed on production planning, selecting locations and equipment, understanding technical aspects of filming (mise-en-scène, composition, camera angles, and perspectives), as well as preparing scenography and props.
On the second day, the workshop “Production – Filming Video Lessons” focused on the practical aspects of video recording. Participants gained insights into working with cameras and microphones, setting up lighting, recording sound, and applying chroma key techniques. The workshop emphasized the use of readily available resources, including participants’ smartphones, demonstrating that quality video lessons can be created with simple equipment. It concluded with participants recording segments of their own video lessons.
The third day concluded the cycle with the workshop “Post-production – Editing and Montage of Video Lessons”. Participants were introduced to the basics of editing, working with DaVinci Resolve, applying transitions, adding graphics and subtitles, as well as performing basic color correction and image processing. The workshop ended with the creation and export of a final video, during which participants worked on practical tasks and received expert feedback.
Through three days of interactive work, participants gained a comprehensive overview of the video lesson production process – from idea development, through filming, to final editing. The University of Dubrovnik has once again confirmed its commitment to following modern trends in education and supporting teachers in applying new technologies in their teaching practice.
