The international collaboration between the University of Dubrovnik, Texas A&M University from the United States, and Academic Programs International (API) officially concluded with the presentation of creative communication solutions by students from Texas A&M. The initiative was part of the Summer Project Based Internship program, which took place at the University of Dubrovnik from June 3 to June 26.
“The students were tasked with analyzing our existing external communication and proposing strategies to enhance the international visibility and recognition of our study programs. We wanted to hear and see their ideas for effectively representing the identity, values, and potential of our University and City as a desirable destination for international students and partners. This goal aligns directly with one of our key strategic priorities—increased internationalization. Openness, collaboration, and exchange are the foundation of our development, and projects like this one make a tangible contribution to realizing that vision,” said Assistant Professor Dr. Romana John, Dean of the Faculty of Media and Public Relations, in her opening remarks on behalf of the University of Dubrovnik.
API representative in Dubrovnik, Nada Raič Jurković, emphasized the significance of this initiative for the future of international academic cooperation:
“The level of creativity and innovation resulting from the collaboration between API, Texas A&M University, and the University of Dubrovnik through the Summer Project Based Internship is truly remarkable. What began last year with the first group of Texas A&M students has now taken on a clearer direction and opened up several niches for future generations to grow, learning in an international environment. At the same time, it allows them to present to the world everything that makes the University of Dubrovnik a unique place—not only in terms of academic excellence but also as a space for cultural exchange, diverse influences, and practical knowledge,” said Raič Jurković.
During their stay in Dubrovnik, a group of 17 students led by Professor Barbara Klein developed proposals for promotional materials aimed at boosting the University of Dubrovnik’s global visibility and recognition.
The students worked in teams to design and create various publications and content such as posters, promotional video templates, new intros and outros for UNIDU TV programs, and materials for the University’s departments. They also outlined a business strategy for the further promotion and distribution of the materials. The project activities were coordinated by Ivana Hladilo, Assistant at the Faculty of Media and Public Relations, and Ante Tolja, Executive Producer at UNIDU TV.
“Over the course of four weeks, the students went through the entire process—from initial design and concept development to the final presentation. Along the way, they immersed themselves in the local culture, traveled, and enjoyed the benefits of the sea—all while learning and achieving a great deal. I am incredibly proud of them; I witnessed their growth in leadership, critical thinking, collaboration, and mutual support,” concluded Professor Klein.
This collaboration once again demonstrated the successful synergy between Texas A&M University, API, and the University of Dubrovnik, reaffirming the value of international knowledge and experience exchange.
