Record number of international students at the University of Dubrovnik

The University of Dubrovnik has welcomed a record number of international exchange students this academic year, who gathered at the Orientation day held at the University campus. The growing interest in studying in Dubrovnik confirms the success of the University’s internationalization strategy and its increasing global recognition.

In the summer semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, the University will host 109 students through exchange programs, while 11 students will spend the entire academic year in Dubrovnik. This means that UNIDU will be home to students from more than ten countries, including the USA, France, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Montenegro, Mongolia, Tunisia, India and Kyrgyzstan.

The total number of international students in the 2024/2025 academic year will reach 174, marking a continuation of the positive trend and further affirming the quality of the University’s educational offerings. The Vice Rector for internationalization, public relations, and student standards, Mato Brautović, highlighted the significance of this growth:‘We are delighted to see a continuous increase in the number of international students choosing the University of Dubrovnik for their academic exchange experience. This reflects our ongoing commitment to internationalization, which remains one of the University’s key strategic goals. A significant contribution to this success comes from the International relations department, which supports students and faculty in mobility programs, as well as participation in international research projects that strengthen academic cooperation and the global reputation of our university.’

Ghofran Triki, a student from Tunisia, emphasized that choosing Dubrovnik was an easy decision:‘I came here with a friend through the Erasmus+ program. I specifically chose the Faculty of economics and business because our university has a partnership with it, and my main goal is to expand my knowledge of economics. I am happy and excited to have the opportunity to study in Dubrovnik.

During Orientation Day, students learned about the University’s services and were introduced to the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Dubrovnik. Members of this organization have been supporting international students for many years, organizing activities and helping them adapt to life and studies in Dubrovnik.

The University of Dubrovnik continues to strengthen its international community, creating an inspiring environment for students from all over the world.
