The fifth generation of students begins classes at Croatia’s leading PhD programme in digital economy

A ceremony marked the start of classes for the fifth generation of students in the joint PhD programme ‘Business Economics in Digital Environment’, carried out by the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Dubrovnik and the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb.

In the 2024/2025 academic year, 19 new students have enrolled in Croatia’s first PhD programme in the field of digital economy, fully filling the enrollment cap for the Croatian-language programme and partially filling the enrollment cap for the English-language programme. This year, students from Germany, Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia have joined the programme, bringing the total number of countries represented to 15. This impressive reach further confirms the programmes international competitiveness and positions it as one of the leading doctoral studies in the field of economics in Croatia.

During the first day of classes, students were introduced to key information about the programme and academic activities, and they signed their study agreements, officially starting their academic journey.

The new generation of students was welcomed by the Rector of the University of Dubrovnik, Professor Nebojša Stojčić, and Professor Goran Vlašić from the Faculty of Economics of University of Zagreb, who wished them success in this new chapter of their academic development.
