A cooperation agreement between the University of Dubrovnik and Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT), establishing a teaching base for the implementation of part of the teaching and professional practice of students, was signed on August 25 at the University of Dubrovnik Campus. The agreement was signed by Robert Šveb, Director General of HRT, and Prof. Nebojša Stojčić, Ph.D., Rector of the University of Dubrovnik.
This agreement establishes cooperation that opens the door for University of Dubrovnik students to high-quality practical training, professional development, and the opportunity to gain experience in a real media environment. As the national public broadcaster with a tradition spanning almost a century, HRT has been recognized as an important partner in educating future media professionals. On the other hand, through its Department of Communication and Public Relations, the University of Dubrovnik develops study programs closely linked to practice and the needs of the contemporary media market, while this agreement formalizes cooperation that has already existed in practice for many years.
Robert Šveb, Director General of HRT, emphasized the importance of the established cooperation, pointing out that HRT can offer students a unique experience of working within a media system that encompasses television, radio, digital platforms, and a rich archival collection.
“With a tradition soon reaching its centenary, HRT possesses knowledge and discourses that can be invaluable for the professional development of students. Cooperation with the University provides a framework and opens space for new generations who are developing into future media professionals. I believe this cooperation will demonstrate that the synergy between academia and the media industry brings shared value. I wish students to find in this partnership an opportunity that will shape their professional path in the future,” said Šveb, adding that the most successful students may also gain opportunities for employment at HRT.
Rector of the University of Dubrovnik, Prof. Nebojša Stojčić, Ph.D., highlighted that the University continues to expand its network of teaching bases this year, and the signed agreement is of particular significance for the Department of Communication and Public Relations.
“I am pleased that this base is connected to our Department of Communication and Public Relations, into which we have invested significantly in recent years to ensure students modern study conditions. HRT has from the very beginning been an important partner to our students through internships and employment, and with today’s signing of the agreement we are elevating that relationship to a new level,” stated Rector Stojčić.
Vice-Rector for International Relations, Public Relations, and Student Standards, Prof. Mato Brautović, Ph.D., emphasized that the Department of Communication and Public Relations is the only one in Croatia to offer a university master’s program in Public Media, making this cooperation a natural and logical step.
“This is a path through which we can guide students toward a potential employer and enable them to gain hands-on experience at the public broadcaster. Many of our students have already taken their first professional steps at HRT, and with this agreement we are facilitating and formalizing that process,” concluded Vice-Rector Brautović.
The cooperation between Croatian Radiotelevision and the University of Dubrovnik will provide students with new opportunities for practical training, the acquisition of knowledge and skills, as well as a smoother transition from academia to the labor market.
