A lecture by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Ole Frijs-Madsen, will be held at the University of Dubrovnik on Thursday, 30 April, at 10:00 in lecture room 122.
The lecture is intended for students, as well as academic and administrative staff of the University of Dubrovnik, and will provide insights into Danish society, politics, economy, diplomacy, and media. Denmark, as a country with a highly developed media landscape and significant global influence, is an important partner of the University of Dubrovnik through various forms of international cooperation and student exchange.
The lecture will cover Denmark’s political system, based on consensus and minority governments, as well as the well-known “flexicurity” model, which combines a flexible labour market with social security and accessible education. Particular attention will be given to contemporary topics such as freedom of speech, trust in the media, the platform economy, and the role of technology companies in today’s market.
The Ambassador will also address values commonly associated with Denmark – trust, equality, sustainability, and responsibility – illustrated through globally recognised Danish companies such as LEGO, Maersk, Novo Nordisk, Vestas and Carlsberg, as well as current geopolitical topics.
This event represents an opportunity for students and staff to engage in open discussion, ask questions, and exchange perspectives with representatives of the Kingdom of Denmark, while further strengthening international cooperation and dialogue.
