Assoc. Prof. Romana John, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Media and Public Relations at the University of Dubrovnik, participated in the international conference GSCC Conclave 2026, held in Portugal. The conference brought together distinguished scholars and professionals in the fields of strategic communication, public relations and public policy, and was hosted this year by ISCSP – Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas, University of Lisbon.
GSCC (Global Strategic Communication Consortium) is an international network that brings together leading global scholars in the field of strategic communication from five continents. Their expertise spans areas such as artificial intelligence, disinformation and social innovation, as well as public diplomacy, crisis communication, political public relations and emergency management. The GSCC network was founded by Prof. Shannon A. Bowen (University of South Carolina), an internationally recognised scholar and one of the world’s leading experts in the ethics of strategic communication. Members of the network actively contribute to the development of both theory and practice through research, consultancy, education and international collaboration.
At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Romana John, PhD, served as chair of one of the competitive scientific sessions, focused on reflective and regenerative approaches to strategic communication. The session featured research on emerging communication paradigms in the public sector, ethical challenges in contemporary society, and the influence of communication environments on public policy development.
Participation in this conference further confirms the international visibility and engagement of the University of Dubrovnik in the global academic dialogue, while also opening opportunities for new forms of scientific and institutional cooperation. Of particular significance is the announcement that the next edition of the GSCC conference will be held in Dubrovnik in 2027, positioning the University of Dubrovnik and the Faculty of Media and Public Relations as hosts of one of the leading international gatherings in the field of strategic communication.
