Maritime Department of the University of Dubrovnik has been elected to the International Executive Board (IEB) of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) for the period from FY 2025 to FY 2026 (April 2024 – March 2027), representing the Regions Europe and Africa. With this election, assistant professor Srđan Vujičić represents 44 maritime universities in Europe and Africa.

At the election session held on 15 February 2024, professor Vujičić presented his candidacy and goals, which include active participation in IMO meetings that will contribute to the comprehensive revision of the STCW Convention and Code, working on the training of workers in all maritime sectors through IAMU projects, ensuring standardised quality training of seafarers at a global level through the Global Maritime Professional, improving the position of women in maritime affairs, emphasising the importance of seafarers’ mental health, strengthening cooperation between IAMU and the academic community with the business community through joint projects.
