Students from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing participate in the Huawei’s ‘Seeds for the Future’ programme

Students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing participated in the global educational programme ‘Seeds for the Future’ organised by the company Huawei and by the Central State Office for Digital Society Development. It was held from 10 to 18 October 2022. 29 students from Croatian universities participated in this programme. It provided an opportunity for students to experience new technologies, such as 5G, artificial intelligence or cloud computing, headed by the experts from Huawei.

This programme has been running in Croatia since 2019 and is intended for students of undergraduate and graduate STEM studies. Trainings were planned to be held in the People’s Republic of China, however, due to the pandemic, last three years they were held online.

Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the People’s Republic of China Dario Mihelin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Croatia Qianjin Qi, State Secretary of the Central State Office for Digital Society Development Bernard Gršić and Head of Sector for Coordination of European Affairs and International Cooperation Staša Skenžić participated in the closing ceremony when certificates of participation were awarded. The ceremony was also attended by students and professors from various universities, including students and professors from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Dubrovnik.

Within this programme, a visit of students and professors to the Huawei’s 5G logistic centre and factory in Budapest was organised. Students and professors were able to witness the implementation of new technologies and the way how the factory is operated.
