World Diabetes Day Marked with a Lecture and Public Health Event at the University of Dubrovnik

On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Nursing and Clinical Nursing Study Programmes at the University of Dubrovnik, in cooperation with the Croatian Institute of Public Health and Polyclinic Hygea, held a lecture and a public health event on the University Campus.

Assoc. Prof. Sanda Tešanović, PhD, delivered a lecture titled “THEN AND NOW: From Powerlessness to Full Remission of Type 2 Diabetes”, highlighting the importance of early symptom recognition and contemporary, individualized approaches to treatment that support patients throughout all stages of life – the central message of this year’s World Diabetes Day.

Following the lecture, representatives of the Health Promotion Service of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Public Health Institute provided visitors with blood glucose testing, an assessment of the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, as well as blood pressure and body mass measurements. University students and staff responded with great interest, taking the opportunity to receive expert advice and gain insight into their current health status.

This event once again underscored the importance of raising awareness about diabetes as a major public health challenge, as well as the value of cross-sector cooperation in strengthening prevention and promoting health within the community.
