“Cultural Awareness” Workshop Held for International Students at the University of Dubrovnik

On 18 December 2025, the “Cultural Awareness” workshop was held at the University of Dubrovnik Campus for international students, led by the Vice-Rector for Quality, Ethics and Strategic Development, Prof. Katija Vojvodić, PhD.

During the workshop, students had the opportunity to discuss adapting to a new culture and the challenges associated with culture shock, with a particular focus on experiences of living and studying in an international environment. Through an interactive discussion, the Vice-Rector addressed the stages of cultural adaptation, the importance of developing cultural intelligence, and the role of stereotypes in shaping intercultural understanding and communication.

The students were also addressed by Jelena Bupić from the Office for Inclusiveness and Psychological Support, who introduced the support services available at the University and encouraged students to seek advice and assistance whenever needed during their studies.

The workshop provided students with valuable insights and practical knowledge to support their adaptation to academic and social life in a new environment, while highlighting the importance of openness, understanding and mutual respect in a multicultural academic community.
