The Rector of the University of Dubrovnik Professor Nikša Burum, PhD, and the President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) – County Chamber of Dubrovnik Nikolina Trojić gave awards and recognitions to students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing who participated in the WebPoSt project (making of web pages for entrepreneurs). This is the tenth generation of students who have participated in this project, headed by the University and HGK.
Rector Burum congratulated everybody on a job well done and highlighted that this was an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical experience even before their graduation. He was happy that the feedback had been very good since all employers were happy with the students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing. The President of the County Chamber of Economy Nikolina Trojić emphasised the fact that this was the tenth anniversary of that project, which had been running continuously. It thus represents a true example of a successful cooperation between the scientific community and the wider local community. President Trojić handed out thank-you notes for the one decade long cooperation to Rector Burum and to Assistant Ivan Grbavac from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing who had been coordinating students. The thank-you note for Professor Marijo Miličević, PhD, Head of Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing ,who could not attend the ceremony due to his other obligations, was received by the Vice Rector for Studies and Students Associate Professor Sanja Žaja Vrbica, PhD, on his behalf.
The following students received the awards:
1st place: student Mario Curavić for the Career Youth Centre Dubrovnik,
2nd place: student Josip Simović for the Dubrovnik Pharmacies,
3rd place was shared by: student Mato Tikvica for the Tourist Guides Association Dubrovnik and student Mia Lazo for the Cultural Association of Mljet.

A total of 12 students who made 14 web pages were included in this project this year. As usual, the interest of entrepreneurs was also big (as much as 19 entrepreneurs applied to the project). The web pages made by the students were evaluated by a committee, consisting of the representatives of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Dubrovnik, HGK – County Chamber of Dubrovnik and of the entrepreneurial sector. HGK – County Chamber of Dubrovnik provided gift packages to the three best evaluated students. The cooperation of the University of Dubrovnik and the Croatian Chamber of Economy on the WebPoSt project started in the academic year 2012/2013 and has been lasting for a full 10 years, raising a lot of interest of small-sized business entrepreneurs. Students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computing have created web pages for small entrepreneurs (up to three employees) and associations and have thus implemented their theoretical knowledge in the practice. Small entrepreneurs gained free web pages to be able to present their business to their clients.
