HI EU Teacher Training Workshop Held at the University of Dubrovnik

The University of Dubrovnik hosted a teacher training workshop on 10–11 November 2025 as part of the project HI EU – Croatian Initiative for the European Union in Schools, implemented with the support of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet programme. The workshop brought together teachers from primary and secondary schools across Croatia. Over two days, participants explored the core values of the European Union, EU institutions and decision-making, intercultural competences, and pedagogical approaches to teaching European topics.

Through lectures, interactive sessions and discussions, teachers exchanged ideas on how to bring European topics closer to students in engaging and creative ways. Special attention was given to developing critical thinking, media literacy and identifying disinformation in education, as well as to the use of digital tools and gamification in teaching. Participants were also introduced to the HI EU repository of teaching and gamification materials, developed within the project to support teachers in implementing innovative and interactive approaches to EU-related education. The HI EU project aims to strengthen teachers’ competences for teaching about the European Union, foster collaboration between schools and universities, and encourage young people to become active and responsible European citizens.

As part of the project, the University of Dubrovnik will continue to organize training sessions, workshops and study visits that promote the exchange of experiences, innovative pedagogical practices and modern approaches to EU education.
