The Faculty of Maritime Studies participated in the 22nd Executive Board Meeting and the 25th Annual General Assembly of IAMU in India.

The Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Dubrovnik, as the representative of Region 1 (Europe–Africa), participated in the 22nd Regular Session of the Executive Board of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and the 25th Annual General Assembly (IAMU AGA 25), held from 13 to 18 October 2025 in Chennai, India.

Representing the Faculty of Maritime Studies was Assoc. Prof. Srđan Vujičić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty, who also serves as the Region 1 (Europe–Africa) Representative on the IAMU Executive Board.

The main topics of the meetings included the future of maritime education, the green transition, and sustainability in the context of global changes in the maritime industry.

Following two days of Executive Board meetings, the President Forum was held, where representatives of maritime universities discussed the future of maritime education. The central theme of this year’s Forum was “Artificial Intelligence in Maritime Leadership and Governance: A Strategic Ally or a Silent Adversary?”, while the theme of this year’s IAMU AGA Conference was “Disruptive Technologies and Innovations towards Sustainable Maritime Practices.”

During the Plenary Session, certificates of appreciation were presented to members of the IAMU community for their contribution to the review of IAMU projects, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and the continuous improvement of research quality in the field of maritime studies.

Today, the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) brings together 83 maritime universities from around the world, united in their shared mission to advance modern maritime education, research, and the sustainable development of the maritime sector.
