Životopis:
Ana Portolan rođena je 1. studenog 1974. u Dubrovniku, Republika Hrvatska. Po narodnosti je Hrvatica i državljanka Republike Hrvatske. Osnovno obrazovanje i srednju pedagošku gimnaziju završila je u Dubrovniku. Redoviti studij na Fakultetu za turizam i vanjsku trgovinu, koji je tada djelovao kao sastavnica Sveučilišta u Splitu, upisala je 1993. Diplomirala je na smjeru turizam 1997. s izvrsnim uspjehom.
Specijalistički poslijediplomski studij „Upravljanje marketingom u turizmu“ upisala je 2006. na Sveučilištu u Dubrovniku. Studij je uspješno završila 26. ožujka 2009. obranom specijalističkog magistarskog rada pod nazivom „Marketing privatnog turističkog smještaja“. Uz mentorsko vodstvo prof. dr. sc. Marcela Melera izradila je i obranila doktorsku disertaciju „Utjecaj dodane vrijednosti na konkurentnost turističkog proizvoda“ na Ekonomskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Splitu, te u studenom 2013. stekla akademski stupanj doktora znanosti, polje ekonomija, grana trgovina i turizam.
Od 1996. do 2008. radila je u deviznom sektoru Dubrovačke banke d.d. (sadašnja OTP banka d.d.) na mjestu dealera i višeg dealera. Od ožujka 2008. do danas zaposlena je na Odjelu ekonomije i poslovne ekonomije, Sveučilišta u Dubrovniku. Nositeljica je kolegija „Uvod u turizam“, „Menadžment ugostiteljskih poduzeća“ i „Posebni oblici turizma“ na preddiplomskom sveučilišnom studiju, „Održivi turizam“ na diplomskom sveučilišnom studiju, te kolegija „Poslovna etika u turizmu“, „Ekonomika u hotelijerstvu i ugostiteljstvu“ i „Menadžment smještaja“ na preddiplomskom stručnom studiju i kolegija „Trendovi u hotelijerstvu“ na diplomskom stručnom studiju.
Mentorirala je niz završnih i diplomskih radova. Samostalno i u suautorstvu objavila je veći broj znanstvenih radova iz područja turizma. Sudjelovala je na velikom broju konferencija, te takodjer bila član organizacijskih odbora konferencija.
Aktivno koristi engleski jezik u govoru i pismu, a pasivno poznaje njemački jezik.
U registru znanstvenih istraživača Ministarstva znanosti, obrazovanja i športa upisana je pod brojem 307332.

Biography/CV:
Ana Portolan, Ph.D., was born in Dubrovnik in 1974. She graduated at the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Trade, University of Split in 1997 and in 2009 she became University specialist in Economics. She became Ph.D. of Social Science in Economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Split, Split. The title of her doctoral dissertation was: „The impact of added value on competitiveness of tourism product“. She works at the University of Dubrovnik, Department of Economics and Business Economics since 2008.
She is involved in teaching at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, University of Dubrovnik as associate professor. She teaches undergraduate courses in: Tourism basic, Special interest tourism, Management of hospitality firms, Business ethics in tourism and Management of accommodation and graduate courses in Sustainable Tourism and Trends in hotel industry.
She actively participates in international conferences in Croatia and abroad. She has published papers in national and international journals in the field of tourism.
Her areas of interest are related to tourism impacts, competitiveness in tourism, special interest tourism, sustainable tourism development and peer to peer tourist accommodation.
