The University of Dubrovnik (UNIDU), as part of the European University alliance partnership, participated from 22 to 25 September 2025 in Burgas (Bulgaria) in the meetings of the EUNICoast – European University of Islands, Ports and Coastal Territories.
The working program included a meeting of the Alliance’s Board of Directors as well as a meeting of the IT Committee. Partners discussed key topics for the future of coastal regions: sustainable development, adaptation to climate challenges, digital solutions, and strengthening joint research infrastructure. Special attention was given to student and staff mobility, connecting universities with the economy, and creating concrete initiatives that will have a long-term impact on local communities.
In addition to formal meetings, partners also took part in joint activities focused on sustainability and social responsibility, such as the international initiative “Plastic Pirates – Go Europe!”, symbolically highlighting the commitment to environmental protection and the preservation of the sea.
UNIDU’s participation in the meetings in Burgas once again confirmed the importance of the University within international networks and its role in shaping innovative and interdisciplinary solutions to the challenges faced by coastal and island regions across Europe.
