The Erasmus+ Info day, aimed at introducing students to the opportunities for academic mobility and collaboration within the European higher education area, was held on April 2nd at the Student Dormitory of the University of Dubrovnik. The event was organized to mark the announcement of the Erasmus+ mobility call for the 2025/2026 academic year and attracted around thirty undergraduate and graduate students.
‘Our goal was to present the Erasmus+ programme in an accessible and engaging way, and to provide students with clear information on the application process, eligibility criteria, and life during mobility. We wanted to encourage them to take advantage of the opportunities offered within the European higher education area, particularly through cooperation within the EUNICoast alliance,’ said Sandra Memunić, Head of International relations and research projects department at the University of Dubrovnik.
The programme was enriched by the participation of Hélène Le Roux, a representative from Le Havre University in France — an institution that is also a partner within the EUNICoast alliance. As an outgoing mobility officer in the university’s International Office, Le Roux presented her institution, student life in Le Havre, and the wide range of opportunities that the French university offers to international students.
A key part of the programme was a panel discussion featuring former Erasmus+ mobility participants. Students from the University of Dubrovnik who had previously studied abroad shared their experiences, practical tips, and personal reflections. Their stories further inspired the attending students to consider applying for the mobility programme.
‘When I went on Erasmus for the first time, I had no idea what to expect — but I gained so much more than I could have imagined. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. It allowed me to break free from my daily routine, live in two completely different cities, explore new regions, and successfully manage my academic responsibilities,‘ shared student Lana Vučemilo.
Student Karla Sabljić also shared her impressions with the audience and, along with her fellow students, showcased the charm of student life while on Erasmus: ‘As someone who participated in the Erasmus+ programme, I love sharing my experience with others who haven’t yet had the chance, because I believe that word of mouth is the best recommendation. I hope we’ve helped broaden some horizons and that our journey becomes theirs too.’
Following the panel, a speed-dating activity was held, giving students the chance to ask questions directly to Hélène Le Roux, staff from the International relations and research projects department, and former Erasmus+ participants. In this informal setting, students could exchange information directly, receive personalized advice, and get answers to specific questions.
The event concluded with a fun quiz focused on topics related to the Erasmus+ programme and international mobility. The most successful participants were awarded symbolic prizes, and the quiz added to the event’s upbeat and relaxed atmosphere.
Participants rated the Info Day as extremely useful, informative, and inspiring. Through experience sharing, direct communication with international partners, and a clear presentation of the steps involved in joining the programme, the University of Dubrovnik once again affirmed its commitment to internationalization and to opening doors for its students within the European higher education area.
